[2] On 24 July 1810, John Cust, 1st viscount Alford, 2nd baron and 1st earl Brownlow [1779-1853], married Sophia, the second daughter and co-heir of Sir Abraham Hume; she died in 1814 and was the first of his three wives. Their first child was John Hume Cust, who died two years before his father and so never succeeded to the earldom.
