Study for Composition Alastor

Description

Roszak studied at the Art Institute in the mid-1920s and later worked as an instructor of lithography in 1927–28. Many of his early lithographs combined portraits with elements probably derived from popular motifs on textiles and other decorative arts. This print is a close-up of the sculpture, which served as a model for a larger oil painting, Composition Alastor, from the same year.
